Procurement and sourcing

Procurement and sourcing form one of the core functions of Naval Group India under the prestigious P-75 Scorpène® submarine program, a flagship initiative that truly reflects the spirit of Make in India.

Under this program, several critical systems and equipment for the Kalvari-class submarines have been successfully indigenised and manufactured by Indian industrial partners. This approach strengthens India’s self-reliance in defence production while empowering local industries to contribute to the nation’s strategic submarine capabilities.

By developing local manufacturing expertise, Naval Group India supports the long-term goal of creating a robust and sustainable defence ecosystem that can meet both domestic and export requirements in the future.

Sourcing activities and industrial ecosystem

Building an indigenous supply chain for India’s defence future.

As part of its long-term commitment to strengthen India’s defence industrial base, Naval Group India has established a dedicated sourcing team focused on developing partnerships with Indian micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) for participation in current and future defence projects.

Each Indian partner is selected through a stringent qualification and audit process carried out by Naval Group’s quality experts, ensuring compliance with international defence manufacturing standards.

Through the P-75 program, Naval Group India has achieved local manufacturing of components in the float, move and fight categories (as per Indian Navy classification) with qualified Indian suppliers.

This initiative not only enhances indigenous design and production capabilities but also upskills Indian engineers and suppliers for future programmes. The result is a sustainable and globally competitive industrial ecosystem, supporting both India’s self-reliant defence goals and international export potential.
